Texas Pandemic Influenza Summit – Austin, Texas

http://2009fluconference.com/location/austin.cfm

Since April 2009, the State of Texas has been responding to an outbreak of the novel H1N1 virus. Over the last several months, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) has been working with stakeholders to identify response activities that worked well and to identify opportunities to improve future planning and response activities. To share this information, DSHS and the Governor’s Division of Emergency Management are co-hosting a pandemic influenza summit on August 10, 2009 in Austin, Texas.

This important summit will provide participants an opportunity to discuss policy issues in the following areas, as the state prepares for a possible resurgence of the novel H1N1 virus in the fall:

  • Antiviral medication allocation and distribution
  • Vaccine availability and distribution
  • Medical surge capacity
  • Community mitigation activities

Participants at this summit will include elected officials, leaders of public health departments, state agency officials, and emergency management officials, among others.

To register for the summit and to obtain other important information, including hotel room availability, please go to www.2009fluconference.com and enter code word summit.  On-line registrations will be accepted through close of business on August 3, 2009.
