Texas Pandemic Influenza Summit – Austin, Texas
Since April 2009,
the State of Texas has been responding to an outbreak of the novel H1N1 virus.
Over the last several months, the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS)
has been working with stakeholders to identify response activities that worked
well and to identify opportunities to improve future planning and response
activities. To share this information, DSHS and the Governor’s Division of
Emergency Management are co-hosting a pandemic influenza summit on August 10,
2009 in Austin, Texas.
This important
summit will provide participants an opportunity to discuss policy issues in the
following areas, as the state prepares for a possible resurgence of the novel
H1N1 virus in the fall:

Antiviral medication
allocation and distribution

Vaccine availability and
distribution
-
Medical surge capacity
-
Community mitigation
activities
Participants at
this summit will include elected officials, leaders of public health
departments, state agency officials, and emergency management officials, among
others.
