The next Urban Counties Membership Luncheon will be held on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at the Austin Sheraton Hotel at 701 East 11th Street in Downtown Austin, Texas.
The 2012 Education and Policy Conference will be held November 28-30, 2012 at the Marriott at Champions Circle, Fort Worth, Texas.
Urban Counties Chairman Eddie Arnold created several special committees to study areas of interest to counties:
Roads & Transportation Committee (will review local option funding, overweight or damage causing vehicles, diversions, etc.); Indigent Health Care Committee (will review indigent health care funding, Medicaid 1115 waiver and other reforms); Courts & Jails Committee (will review criminal justice related cost drivers); Mental Health Committee (will review mental health care availability and funding, and its impact on jails); Water Committee (will review water policy issues and drought issues); and Growth in Unincorporated Areas Committee (will review the substantial growth in demand for services in unincorporated areas).
