Julie Wheeler first joined Travis County as the Constituent Relations Director for former Precinct Three County Commissioner Karen Huber. In January 2013, she transitioned to Travis County’s Intergovernmental Relations Office where she assists with the creation and execution of Travis County’s state and federal legislative agendas. Wheeler has interned at the Hope Alliance, a non-profit which works with individuals who have experienced family and sexual violence. While at the Hope Alliance, she provided counseling to both adolescent and adult survivors of domestic abuse. Wheeler has also interned for the Texas Early Childhood Education Coalition (TECEC), a former non-profit devoted to building high-quality early childhood education across Texas. At TECEC, Wheeler coordinated outreach and advocacy efforts for its statewide public awareness campaign and researched issues related to the agency’s legislative agenda. Wheeler received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and History from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in Social Work from UT Austin.
