Bell County recently secured grant funding for enhancements to the TechShare.Indigent Defense system. A workshop is scheduled this month for the 11 participating counties to start discussing design and development of the new functionality.

The workshop begins on Tuesday, Apr. 28 with opening remarks from Judge Jon Burrows, Bell County, and GK Maenius, Tarrant County Administrator and Chairman of the project’s Stakeholder Committee.

The agenda includes time to discuss:

  • Background of grant activities
  • Goals for the workshop
  • Format for defining requirements
  • Enhancements to existing system
  • Juvenile appointments and vouchers
  • Functional extension for magistration
  • Outstanding items
  • Plans for developning enhancements
  • Integrations with other systems:
    • New jail booking
    • New case files
    • Jail status
    • Case update
    • Attorney appointed
    • Voucher paid

Following the last day of the workshop on Thursday, Apr. 30, the team expects to have a clearer understanding of how the enhancements will be prioritized as well as what new functionality areas will be part of the project.

The 11 participating counties include: Anderson, Bell, Brown, Coryell, Medina, Mills, Montgomery, Real, Tarrant, Uvalde, and Victoria.
