You might recall an article about a visit to Salt Lake City from our March edition. Then again, we know a lot has happened since April showers brought May flowers, so here’s a quick recap.

Following a webinar demonstration of the TechShare.Prosecutor application with Executive Director Kay Chopard Cohen from the National District Attorneys Association in February, the team was asked if they’d make a trip up to Utah to share a similar system presentation with the board.

During the team’s demonstration in Utah, our Program Operations Manager, Katie Hooks, received an email from someone in Idaho. Behind the scenes, Sandee Meyer, Executive Director, Idaho Prosecuting Attorneys Association (IPAA), attended the demo in Utah. A few minutes into the presentation, she asked her Administrative Specialist to find out more about TechShare.

It wasn’t long after this exchange before she invited us to attend the IPAA 2015 Management and Leadership Conference in Boise, ID in May. With that, we prepared to not only sponsor, but also exhibit, at our first out-of-state conference in the history of TechShare.

As part of the sponsorship TechShare was provided an exhibitor space for our booth, verbal recognition during the welcome remarks, and a five minute presentation during the Presidents Reception.

What we learned from the conference

Much like in Texas, Idaho counties are generally given local control to make decisions about technology solutions to more effectively run their offices.

Six counties have asked for more information about TechShare.Prosecutor. We’re working directly with these counties to learn more about how they might get approval to use the new software.

Additionally, Idaho Supreme Court recently signed a contract with Tyler Technologies for a statewide court case management system, Odyssey; therefore, the TechShare.Prosecutor solution must be able integrate with it. That being said, we’re attempting to learn more about the provisions of that agreement and how we can assure that TechShare.Prosecutor will work with Odyssey.

Last but not least, Idaho counties have an appointed public defender to handle most cases, except where the offender has retained counsel.

Next steps

We recently sent more information about TechShare.Prosecutor to our new friends in Idaho. They’ve been invited to attend a live webinar demonstration on May 27th for a deep dive into the solution, including an overview of the defense attorney and law enforcement agency portals.
